Senior Pastor

Rev. Stephen V. Allen became Senior Pastor at Tabernacle on September 6, 2016, following a congregational vote of support during a called Church Conference on July 17, 2016.
A native of Texas, Stephen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Baylor University a Master of Divinity in Theology from the George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University, and is currently working toward his Doctor of Ministry with Baylor University.
Stephen has served as Pastor at First Baptist Church in Cranfills Gap, Texas, and as Senior Pastor at South Run Baptist Church in Springfield, Virginia. He and his wife, Leeann, have a daughter, Ella Mac, and a son, Stephen Vernon Jr.

Interim Associate for Music & Worship

Rev. Mark Barnes began leading Tabernacle’s dynamic worship in January 2015 as the Supply Minister of Music. On Sunday, May 17, 2015, during a Called Church Conference, the congregation voted Mark to become the Interim Associate Pastor for Music & Worship. A native of Carroll County but grew up in Douglas County, Mark is a graduate of West Georgia College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has worked in music ministry since 1978, having served churches in Georgia, Texas, Maryland, and Florida. In addition, Mark is a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. He and his wife, Lynn, reside in Carrollton and have two children and five grandchildren. Mark loves to fish and loves to sing!

Interim Minister to Students

Rev. Wally Dedman came to Tabernacle in 2015 as the Interim Minister to Students. He and His wife, April, have three children, Nicholas, Reid, and Anna. A graduate of Central High School and the University of West Georgia with a BA in Business Management, he was called to the ministry in 1991 and has 20 plus years of working in ministry in the Carrollton area, including serving as pastor for Grace Baptist Church. He is very involved in the community connecting with students. He has coached various sports at the local recreation departments and has served as a chaplain for one of our local football teams.

He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, watching sporting events, teaching and hanging out with youth, and going on youth trips and has a vision of connecting students with their Faith, Family, and Friends.

Interim Children’s Minister

Julie Harris came to Tabernacle in 2004 as the Children’s Ministry Assistant. Since that time, she has served in many roles within the Children’s Ministry. In 2016, she answered the call to ministry, as she is currently serving as Interim Children’s Minister. She is enrolled in classes with Truett Theological Seminary through Baylor University to receive her Children’s Ministry Certificate. She has also served as VBS coordinator for the Carrollton Baptist Association.

A native of Peachtree City, Georgia, Julie and her husband, Chuck, moved to Carrollton in 2003 with their children Andrew, Brandon and Connor. She enjoys crafting, attending church and community functions and spending time with her family.
